A land-based salmon farm on the west coast of Norway, Viking Aqua’s aim is to produce and supply the finest, freshest, plastic-free, ethical protein to the global market.
With the ambition to build the world's most sustainable circular production fish farm, Viking Aqua came to us for a bold new brand positioning in the aquaculture market.

Challenge
The team at Viking Aqua, from PhDs to third generation fish farmers, held unique knowledge and ambitions.
As a B2B brand Viking Aqua takes a position that challenges the status quo. With the traceability of our food so important, and with many of Viking Aqua’s customers being consumer facing, our advice generated a strategy in the market to work as an ingredient brand with transparency and technology at the core.
Solution
To build Viking Aqua’s brand presence we focused their story around innovation, technology and sustainability. With the “Eco Bubble” we created a universe for Viking Aqua to behave like a cutting edge tech brand and also a pioneer of alternate protein farming. Finding a way for food and technology to live side by side in a visual universe, not typical for the fish farming industry.
Looking at the mechanics and systems operating within Viking Aqua we found our inspiration from the interconnected pools and filtration systems that makes fish farming on land so unique. Connecting all the lines together with a bold and energetic design system and a disruptive colour palette. This was supported with an information rich illustration style with references to science and tech, created in collaboration with Bratislav Milenkovic.
The result is a bold and brave visual identity, unapologetic and with big messages, communicating passion, expertise and sustainability. A new and fresh identity telling the story of the “Eco Bubble”, with ambitions of changing the game of fish farming for a regenerative future.
When working on the web design and UX we built a dynamic and media rich landing page, telling the story of Viking Aqua through big messages, in a bold and engaging visual and verbal tone of voice.
Effect
Since the launch of the brand Viking Aqua have secured key international strategic partners in the development of the facility. Including new R&D partners on projects that aim to develop the technologies demanded of the Eco-Bubble. The facility is under construction in Skipavika, Gulen on the West Coast of Norway.
