About the project
Hardanger Bestikk is a Norwegian design brand rooted in the traditions of craftmanship from the Hardangerfjord region. Since 1958, the family-owned company has been creating high-quality cutlery that blends Scandinavian aesthetics with timeless functionality. Today, Hardanger Bestikk is a household name across Norway and beyond, known for its durable design, elegant form, and a deep connection to heritage quality and everyday rituals.
Hardanger Bestikk has crafted quality cutlery at their family-run factory by the fjord in Kinsarvik for generations. As their customer base grew beyond traditional retail, they asked us to redesign their identity, sharpen their brand storytelling, and build an online store that makes exploring and buying their products effortless.
The brand enjoyed a 90% awareness rate across Norway but faced growing confusion between its Heritage and Contemporary collections. With increased competition and shifting shopping habits, they needed a clear, modern identity and an e-commerce experience that could guide customers with confidence.
We designed a complete e-commerce strategy that combined user experience and brand storytelling to strengthen Hardanger Bestikk’s positioning and drive sales. The new platform refreshed the visual identity while creating a seamless, conversion-focused shopping experience.
Our approach began with product strategy and UX mapping to clearly distinguish Heritage and Contemporary collections, making navigation intuitive and guiding customers effortlessly from discovery to checkout. The UI design balanced heritage and modernity, ensuring the brand felt consistent and premium across all devices.
We created engaging brand and product content through art direction, copywriting, photography, and film — telling the story of Hardanger Bestikk’s craftsmanship while building emotional connection and purchase confidence.
The e-commerce framework was scalable, secure, and fully responsive, optimised for mobile and compatible with all major browsers. Features included advanced search and SEO optimisation, social media integration, multiple currencies with Stripe and PayPal, secure SSL-protected checkout, personalised “My Page” accounts, and a dealer login for retail partners.
Custom tools — such as gift guide templates, detailed product filtering, and curated product marking — streamlined product discovery. We also integrated cloud-based video hosting and Mailchimp for targeted, automated email marketing.
The result was a robust, future-ready platform that delivers a high-quality user experience, supports sales growth, and positions Hardanger Bestikk for continued success in an evolving retail landscape. Their brand and e-commerce platform presents Hardanger Bestikk as both a heritage brand and a modern choice for today’s homes.
