At the heart of Britannia Hotel lies Palmehaven, the hotel’s iconic dining hall and a symbol of timeless luxury since 1870. Known for its towering palm trees, crystal chandeliers, and refined atmosphere, Palmehaven represents Britannia’s soul - a space where generations have gathered for grand occasions and everyday elegance. Norway’s only version of this iconic room found in grand hotels around the world - The Langham, in London, the Royal Mansour, Marrakech, to the Alexandria Hotel, Los Angeles.

The challenge was to modernise an institution without compromising its heritage. Palmehaven needed to remain relevant to today’s guests while preserving the emotional connection that locals and travellers have built with the venue over decades. A room with great status but one of multiple purposes throughout the day, from breakfast, afternoon teas to evening events.

We developed a refined brand expression rooted in heritage and light. The design honours the space’s architectural grandeur and eccentricity - the glass ceiling, the palms, and the soft interplay of gold and white. The visual identity connects directly to the Britannia master brand, using its timeless typographic system and symbol, reinforcing Palmehaven as the spiritual heart of the hotel.
